I love these luxe body bars. Not only do they make the skin feel silky smooth, they nourish and protect the skin. The addition of essential oils means you can get creative with the aroma and the benefits.
The coffee beans give the skin a lovely massage and the simple act of rolling it up and down limbs makes for a pretty special self-love experience.
Becuase of this, the oils I chose to use in these delicious Body Bars are Patchouli, Ginger, Grapefruit and Lime.
This following, from the Emotions and Essential Oils book 5th edition.
Patchouli is the ‘Oil of physicality’: Patchouli calms fears and nervous tension, stilling the heart and mind to prepare them for a greater union between the body and soul. This is a great oil to use when going outdoors to connect with nature (bare feet to the ground!) because it also helps us to stay in touch with the earth.
Patchouli, in its work of connecting us to our own body, also helps us release patterns of shame or “not being enough” about our bodies, and enables us to feel more love and acceptance towards our physical self.
Lime is the oil for ‘Zest for Life’: Lime is a great heart chakra oil which is the colour of green. Lime helps clear trapped emotions in the heart. When the heart harbours negative emotions it becomes toxic emotionally and the person avoids and feels repressed. Lime rejuvenates the heart space and gives it room for light and joy.
Grapefruit Oil is the ‘Oil of honouring the body’: Grapefruit helps us restore our own power and claim our own spiritual purpose. The aromatic effects of Grapefruit include supporting one’s own sense of self-love and approval especially with regards to loving and honouring our bodies. Grapefruit can help a person be grateful for their body for everything it does for them, and treat it with honour and care. It encourages healthy habits coming from a place of love instead of a place of self-loathing.
Ginger Oil is the ‘Oil of Empowerment’ : Ginger promotes the opening of our sacral chakra which governs the small intestine so it’s no wonder that Ginger not only has a positive effect on our digestive system but also on our nervous system in particular with releasing suppressed sexual energy. It also helps process the energy of the solar plexus chakra which is about our self-worth.
What I used:
- 4 tbsp. Beeswax (Melted from a block or from pellets. I get them organic from eBay)
- 2 tbsp. Shea butter (I buy this from eBay or Inspired Little Pot).
- 2 tbs coconut oil
- 1 tsp. of vanilla extract
- 15 drops each of patchouli, lime, ginger and grapefruit essential oil from doTERRA
- a handful of coffee beans (dark roast smells stronger)
- I used silicon muffin trays, you may use soap molds or even small containers.
In either a metal jug over a low heat, or a bowl sat into the top of a simmering saucepan of water (double boiler), melt together the shea butter, coconut oil and beeswax in a double boiler.
Remove from the heat and add your essential oils.
Place some coffee beans into each mold and pour over the beans. Allow to set.
Once the first layer has set, fill the mold until 2/3 full. Allow the bars to cool and set completely before removing from the mold.
In heat or warmth, the bars heat up, and that’s what allows them to be smoothed over the skin so well. I recommend keeping them in a cool dark place or the fridge.
When giving them as presents, a beautiful tin or box with a little note reminding the receiver to pop into a cool place is a great idea. These feel so beautiful when used on the skin and I love applying them to my kids and my own arms, legs, feet and hands.
