It rained this morning when I’d organised to go with my girls, sister and pooch for a walk along the beach, but we decided to do it anyway.
Wet before we’d even got to the end of the street, the beautiful smell of rain on hot tar in the air.
We got to the beach, unleashed the dog, opened our arms to the heavens and just ran like crazy mofo’s (we happened to be singing Katy’ Perry’s ‘Roar’ at the same time, but details).
I was very conscious of the fact that we were the lucky ones.
For the beach, the clean air, for family, for rain and ultimately, freedom.
Easily we could have turned around when we got drenched. We could have decided not to go outside because it was raining. But we didn’t need the situation to change, we simply made sure our mindset was in the right place to receive what we needed to.
We don’t physically try to bend the spoon, we bend our mind around it.
Gratitude brought happiness in the moment and my heart is still singing. When I got back home I had a big parcel from Book Depository waiting on the doorstep filled with gorgeous new reference books. It’s 9.41am and it has already been a magical day.
Life is what you make of it.
