Strawberries, Citrus and Cream ‘Gummies’.

What’s so special about these gummies?

Store-bought ‘gummies’ or lollies or candies, are packed with processed sugar, many with artificial colours and flavours extracted from petroleum sources, and nasty preservatives, these little sweeties are pretty much a super food.

I’ve crafted these gummies with real whole strawberries, ad a whole organic orange and coconut milk that provides essential fat for the body. They’re sweetened with microbiome-lovin’ xylitol, and while it’s not optional that you add this too, I have amped the flavour with a few drops of pure therapeutic grade grapefruit essential oil. 

And let’s not forget the gelatine.

When gelatine comes from healthy, properly-raised animals, gelatine is a wonderfully nutritious and versatile ingredient.

Gelatine helps to strengthen bones, teeth, and cartilage. It improves digestive and immune health. It can even make you prettier – no joke. Gelatine is ‘Mother Nature Botox, for real! The collagen helps to improve the elasticity in your skin and improve the quality of connective tissue, leaving you with softer, plumper skin.

Strawberries, citrus & cream gummies.

  • 1 cup full-fat coconut milk
  • 1 punnet pureed strawberries (you could even leave the green tops on it you’re using a high-powered blender)
  • 4 tbs Xylitol (this is a sugar alcohol that’s good for reducing strep bacteria and for supporting a healthy mouth micro-biome)
  • 1 whole peeled orange, pureed in your high-powered blender
  • 6 tbs grass-fed gelatine
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
  • 4 drops grapefruit essential oil

Equipment:

  • Silicone molds or a flat, shallow dish the size of a Chinese take-out container.

Strawberries, Citrus & Cream Gummies

  1. Combine pureed strawberries, 2tbs xylitol and 3tbs grass-fed gelatine over medium heat in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer
  2. Mix quickly with a fork or whisk until smooth and lump free.
  3. Add 1/2 cup coconut milk and stir through
  4. Pour strawberry mixture into molds or the flat dish, but ONLY fill each one halfway (the rest of the space will be filled by the citrus and cream).
  5. Put the strawberry portion in the freezer.
  6. Combine the coconut milk, vanilla, and remaining 2tbs xylitol and 3 tbs gelatine in a a clean saucepan along with the whole blended orange.
  7. Mix quickly with a fork or whisk until smooth and lump free.
  8. Remove from heat and add the grapefruit essential oil
  9. Take out the strawberry molds and complete the pouring with the cream portion. (make sure that the strawberry layer has gotten firm on the top, but hasn’t set all the way through).
  10. Put back in the freezer for 30 minutes.
  11. Refrigerate if they manage to last longer than that. Enjoy!

    Hi what can I substitute for full fat coconut milk (for the gummies recipe)? As I have an anaphylactic reaction to it. Lisa ?

  • I’ve seen other recipes use almond or cashew nut milks 🙂

  • Hey darling. You could use organic cows cream, or evaporated milk if you do have dairy, or you could also use seed milks. Or leave it out and just make strawbs gummies honey.
